Expositie Andrej Jakab
In his development, Andrej Jakab (1950) seeks content from the naturally optically contentless glass. He adds improper elements to the immaculate material. In mostly austere forms, color nuances are applied by adding and melting in metal powders. After grinding and polishing, a miraculous play of hues emerges in the object as light swirls through the spectrum.
Grinding additional lenses into the surface creates distortions in the decoration that vary greatly as one takes a different point of view of the object. Although Jakab never belonged to the school of the great master Vaclav Cigler, he did work for him for many years. This influence can be seen unmistakably in his works.
