Central during Moergestel Kerstdorp dorp are the nativity scenes which can be seen throughout Moergestel and its surroundings. You can admire them from December 19 to 29. You choose your own route and the nativity scenes you are going to see: on foot, by bike or by car. Nativity scene route December 19 to 29
Central during Moergestel Kerstdorp dorp are the nativity scenes which can be seen throughout Moergestel and its surroundings. You can admire them from December 19 to 29. At the beautiful St. Janskerk you will of course find the floating nativity scene, which is unique in Europe. In the church you can admire some special Christmas creations: the creation of Jan Dijker, statues from chapel Stanislaus in Moergestel and statues from the collection of Brocante bij Kerk in Moergestel. Opening hours of the church are 1st and 2nd Christmas Day and December 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On December 26, 27 and 28 you can also visit a nativity scene in the chapel of the Trappist monastery. On December 28 and 29, you can visit from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. On Boxing Day, you can attend Kindje Wiegen at 3 p.m., a church service where a live Christmas story is reenacted. On the way to the Trappist monastery, you will find nativity scenes at Zonnewende and Bij Broeders.
There are also nativity scenes at: Tree nursery van Dal (Zandstraat), 't ijsboerinneke (Zandstraat), lunch café Den Heijkant (Heikant), the Maria chapel (Oisterwijkseweg), Park Stanislaus, in the Scouting Park (Bosstraat), Maria chapel (Oirschotseweg) and at some locations in the Stappert.
Light tour December 19
New this year is the Lichtjestocht. This tour of about 2 kilometers starts on Friday, December 19 at 19.15 from the St. Jansplein near the church. The route runs through the Heivelden and Korenschuur to the scouting grounds. Residents along the route are challenged to make beautiful Christmas creations at or on their homes or in their gardens. A panel of judges will judge the creations and the prize winners will be announced around 8:45 p.m. at the bonfire provided by the scouts in their park. Take a walk with us!
Christmas concerts Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December
- Saturday, December 20 from 15.00 -18.00 hours: band Clapopp plays at lunch café Den Heijkant. Experience a sparkling afternoon full of music, warmth and conviviality. Clapop brings a festive Christmas program full of recognizable melodies and cheerful sounds. Get carried away by the atmosphere, enjoy a drink and get completely in the Christmas mood. The performance is free.
- Sunday, December 21 from 13.30-16.00: men's choir The Harmony Singers brings the Christmas atmosphere to life with a free performance at Lunchcafé Den Heijkant. You'll enjoy beautiful polyphonic Christmas classics in an intimate, warm setting.
- Sunday, December 21 at 2 p.m.: in Kapel Nieuwenhof is a special (farewell) concert. The Ukrainians are leaving monastery Nieuwenhof in early 2026 so that the renovation of the old monastery can start. Women's choir Inspiration and the pop group Ladies First will perform a special Christmas repertoire. A Ukrainian guitarist will also perform and 97-year-old Marie-Cėcile Moerdijk will give a reading. A limited number of tickets are available from Johan has it!
Children's puzzle tour
The collaborating shopkeepers in Moergestel have created a fun puzzle tour. This can be walked every day from December 21 to December 28. You can find the puzzle tour in this flyer of Moergestel Kerstdop, which is distributed door-to-door, but also available at Rootven 7 and Johan Heeft Het!
Exhibition Galerie De Verdieping
In Galerie de Verdieping you will find an exhibition of Moergestel Kreatief in Kerstsfeer and a large number of (group) photos from the old box. Who (recognizes) who? The exhibition is open on weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Boxing Day.
Moergestel in Christmas atmosphere
The shopkeepers and the hospitality industry will again provide an atmospheric center with beautifully lit Christmas trees and stalls in the windows. The organization calls on residents to also contribute to the Christmas atmosphere by placing a nativity scene in front of their window or putting up atmospheric lighting (outside).
