Guitar freaks can also lick their string fingers at the superbe open tune guitar stirrings of Katie in particular. But equally two women independently singing their own stories.

Katie Spencer 's repertoire, vocal class and guitar playing recall not the least coryphées from the idealistic folk and songwriting scenes of the 1970s: Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and, from her own country perhaps most of all, cult hero Michael Chapman. Roseanne Read treads the roots path, somewhere between folk from her native Caledonia and americana she discovered along the way. Rooted music, in other words, but then again and again with an all but forced touch of southern soul.
