Moergestels Broek
The Moergestels Broek covers 107 hectares and is located southeast of Moergestel, on either side of the A58 motorway. Until the 1950s, this swampy area was one of the most important spots for meadow birds. Then the former marsh meadows were reclaimed and drained for agriculture.
Now Natuurmonumenten is working with local farmers and the Forestry Commission to restore nature. Among other things, we are doing this by raising the groundwater level so that the Moergestels Broek will become more attractive again for the black-tailed godwit, lapwing and other meadow birds.
